HAY BUDDY!

I finally got my load of hay in my barn on Sunday. It was quite an ordeal, but now I am set for over a year. WHEW! Here's how my barn looked on Sunday morning:

...and here's how it looked after filling it with hay:

nice to get it done while you still could walk.

I know that hay is basically dry grass but it keeps for a year?

That's a lot of grass.

(What's up with that mysterious black sheet that came and went during the day?)

The mysterious black sheet is a sheet of plastic that is stapled to the west end of the barn to try to keep rain out when it blows from that direction. It got covered up when the hay, in this case alfalfa, was stacked up against that wall. If you keep the hay dry and covered, it can last for years.
