A. BIG. DAMN. SNAKE ! !

This evening when I went down to the barn to feed the horses, this is what I saw trying to hide under a hay bale:




After I looked at it...a bull snake (I checked the tail)...I ran to the house to get Jack and show it to him. When we got back down there, there was another one. They were both about the same size...BIG! Maybe four feet long. He (she?)was going across the opening in the front of the barn. Before that, I scared it and it went into the stall where Barney was eating and Barney got scared. He jumped around and so the snake got scared and came out and went into the stall next door. I took three great pictures of it, but had the lens cap on, so they really weren't so great!



I tried to get a close-up, but it moved away too fast.



...and ended up going under a pile of lumber in one of the stalls.

I'm wondering if I interrupted a mating ritual...

Erito Burrito Quilt

Izzy sent me pix of Erito's quilt. Remember...it was the first one I finished. I still have the first one I started, which will be mine someday! I had planned to hand quilt it, but since it is king sized and I don't have a quilt frame, I was beating up the batting, so I decided to machine quilt it. Sometimes when I have spare time, I get it out and quilt, but I haven't made much progress. So enjoy this one...

Quilts, Quilts and More Quilts

Since I've been sewing a lot lately and it's been primarily quilt piecing, I thought I would show some of the quilts I've made for the past few years. I wish I had taken pictures of Erito's quilt. It was the first one I made and I don't have photos. Following is the one I made for Chuck. I plan to do this one again sometime.

There are some more, and don't you fret, if you haven't received one from me, you will. It will be a surprise when they come! I'll post more later. It's amazing to me when I start looking at them, how many I've made. I have four going right now, and three are ready to be quilted.

Josh in Coaching Action!

This is the New Mexico Junior College field in Hobbs, NM where Josh is coaching. It is artificial turf. The baselines are red artificial turf. The only dirt on the whole field is on the pitchers mound. All the baseline marks are permanent. Life in the desert...

This is Josh coaching first base. He trades off 1st base coaching duties with another coach:



Here he is in the team meeting; he's number 44. I could never get him to look at me, and I didn't want to embarrass him by yelling at him to look at me and smile!

Spring Time in the Rockies!

I took these pictures on April 1 (you see...I'm still not too good at this blogging...). We have daffodils and the tree is my baby apricot (3 years old) in bloom. I think we had hard frost and snow on April 10, so no apricots this year.

The Continuing Saga of the '55 Chevy Restoration

I went to see my car in progress last weekend. The restoration guy says I should have it back before August. That remains to be seen... Here's the front end. The firewall is painted and the engine has been installed for about 4.5 years! Other pictures I took turned out too dark.


Here's the front "clip" in front of the engine; it's still in primer and that's the steering column in the middle.


Here are the painted hubcaps, the back seat armrests, complete with their little ash trays, and in the background is the back seat with the trunk lid on top of it. Remember how Dad drilled holes to attach that cargo carrier on the back for our trip to Ohio? All those holes are filled and the remaining holes are to attach the trim and emblems on the trunk. Now that I have a V-8 engine, I get the little V trim emblem under the taillights! How cool is that!?!
